Round Two

Today is the last day for me to get my Simply Sassy card in for the 2nd round  at Sugar Nellie.  In the 1st round I had to design a white on white card and the only colour I was allowed was on the stamp.  In this round I have to demonstrate my style of card.  I like to keep things quite plain and simple as they say "less is more".  I tend to use straight lines and layering with just a little bit of bling.  If I get through this round it then comes down to the public to vote for their favourite so fingers crossed.

I have used Basic Grey Marjolaine Papers and American Craft Earth Tones for the layering.  I edge the papers with Color Box's  Olive Post Cat's Eye.  Please leave me your comments.

Getting Through To The Final 12

I learned today that I have been successful in passing Round one in the Sugar Nellie competition, YIPEE!!  I have never entered anything like this before but will certainly be doing it again in the future and it has done wonders for my confidence.

Now for Round 2. My next challenge is to make another card using again a Simply Sassy stamp but this time I get to show off more of my own craft style. I like to keep things quite simple and like to use clean lines. Better dust off the old thinking cap again, I only have to the end of next week to have it done by.  Eek!!

Today I thought I better get on with making some Christmas Cards.  I chose a very simple stamp from Lily of the Valley called The Snowman.  This is such a simple (and quick) stamp to colour. The patterned papers I have used on this card are from Dovecraft Winter Wonderland Collection from a couple of years ago. I layered them onto Papermania Premium Textured Card and with Color Box Blue Lagoon Cat's Eye I edge the card.  I punched out 4 XCut snowflakes and attached them with Papermania Mini Brad.  Finishing off with light blue voile ribbon tied in a simple know with a Christmas gem to compliment.

Sugar Nellie's WOW Competition

Tomorrow is the last day in which I can enter the Sugar Nellie's WOW (White on White) Competition.  The prize I could win is a brand new Spellbinder Grand Caliber and a chance of being on the Simply Sassy Design Team.  As I have only been making cards for a couple of years and don't have much experience I don't hold out much hope, however the challenge has been great and I really had to get my thinking cap on.  The only colour that was allowed is the colouring on the Simply Sassy stamp and trying to come up with ideas using white only was really hard.

I have used a couple of different techniques on this card that I have never used.  I used Craft Essentials fine glitter to edge the picture and used zig-zag machine stitch around the edge of the velum.

I only have the one Simply Sassy stamp at the moment but hopefully Santa will be good enough to give me some more for Christmas. This is the 1st time I have coloured blonde hair and I think it turned out not too bad, what do you think?

My 1st Blog

Thank you for having a look on my blog. I am completely new to this so you will have to bare with me until I get to grips with this all.  The real reason for me doing this is because of all my crafty interests and to enter some competitions I have to enter through a blog, so here goes nothing.  I have just started getting into stamping and colouring with Promarkers and all this snow that we have been having lately has given me the perfect opportunity to work and improve on my techniques as I am not able to get out and work.

For this card I have used Sugar Nellie's Simply Sassy Pillow Talk.  The patterned papers that I have used are BoBunny's Jazmyne range(which is one of my favourite brands of papers), the green backing paper is from Chatter Box and the plain purple and green mounted paper is Earth Tones from American Crafts.  The outer flowers I have used is from Craftwork Cards and the smaller inner flower is a  EK Success punch.
